OPRAH SUPPORTS OBAMA
Oprah opened up her Santa Barbara, CA estate and held a fundraiser for Presidential hopeful Barack Obama. Tickets to the event went for $2300 each. Some of those in attendance were Sidney Poitier, Forest Whitaker, Chris Rock, Cindy Crawford and many others. Stevie Wonder was also there and performed.
FOXY BROWN GETS 1 YR IN PRISON
Foxy Brown has been sentenced to one year in prison for multiple Probation Violations. The 28 yr old rapper has been detained at Rikers Island in NY since Aug. 22nd. Foxy, whose real name is Inga Marchand was indicted on a separate charge in Brooklyn yesterday for allegedly striking her neighbor in the face with her BlackBerry on July 31.
RIHANNA WINS VIDEO OF THE YEAR
Rihanna’s “Umbrella” single featuring rapper Jay-Z took home video of the year at the 24th Annual MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas. Justin Timberlake won Male Artist of the Year honors and The Black Eyed Peas’ Fergie won Female Artist of the Year.
LUDACRIS DISSES T.I.
Multi platinum rapper Ludacris appeared on BET’s 106 and Park last week. When asked about his controversial verse on the 50 Cent “I Get Money” remix, he replied that he had to say something to a “certain artist” who had been discrediting his victory for Album of the Year at the 2006 Grammy’s. On T.I’s single “You Know What It Is” featuring Wyclef Jean, he raps “I had the Album of year…..Grammy or not.”
