Rap seems to be going “Ringtone”, meaning that record company’s are targeting the younger crowd with short attention spans. With hip hop being so popular and cellphone ringtones being the latest fad, its only right for artists to generate another revenue bringing in more ring tone sales than album sales. But where does this take hip hop? Do artist only focus on making that one catchy song just to try to get a ringtone hit? What about making a classic album and selling millions? What this does is make it harder for a artist with something to say and true lyrical content to be noticed.

Ringtones should act as the modern day singles, people use to go to the store and buy the hot single they hear on the radio from any where from 2.99 – 5.99, now they just can download the song to their phone with less than half the quality of a CD at a fraction of the price. So call it what it is, the “Ring Tone” era.
