The Right to Bear Arms in Tennessee Bars

Rep. Curry Todd is trying to get legislation to advance the law that would make it legal to carry a gun into a bar, given the person has a permit for the weapon.

Last year, this very same law was ruled by a judge as being unconstitutional and vague. The law made an exception to establishments that serve at least one meal throughout the week.

The main problem though is that Tennessee is said to not have any legal definition to define a bar from a restaurant. Many critics of this law state that it’s unclear which establishments you can and cannot bring their weapon in.

Todd, on the other hand, stated that his legislation clarifies that they may carry their weapons to establishments serving alcohol, unless it’s stated not to.
