The 30 Minute Meal Queen Rachael Ray Takes A Dunkin

Recently the celebrity chef Rachael Ray has been getting criticism after doing a commercial with Dunkin’ Donuts that showed her wearing a scarf that resembled a kaffiyeh that’s usually worn by Palestinians/Muslim men.

She’s quick, she’s fast and can show you how to cook up a mean meal in 30 Minutes from start to finish on Food Network. Celebrity chef Rachael Ray can also show you how to travel and spend less than $40 a day, but with the recent internet ad endorsement of Dunkin’ Donuts Rachel Ray and the company has grabbed the attention of not so many happy onlookers.

Recently the celebrity chef Rachael Ray has been getting criticism after doing a commercial with Dunkin’ Donuts that showed her wearing a scarf that resembled a kaffiyeh that’s usually worn by Palestinians/Muslim men (without the fringe). The ad began running on May 7th on Dunkin Donuts’ official site as well as others which displayed the celebrity chef holding a cup of the Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee while wearing the black-and-white fringed scarf. It was later removed on May 24 by Dunkin’ Donuts after commentators called it “jihadi chic” and compared it to a kaffiyeh.

Many believe that Dunkin’ Donuts should have stuck it out by not falling prey to those such as Fox News commentator Michelle Mulkin that made suggestions of a possible boycott and who also wrote, “Popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos, the apparel has been mainstreamed by both ignorant [and not so ignorant] fashion designers, celebrities and left-wing icons.” Charles Johnson with Little Green Footballs stated they are the latest American firm to casually promote the symbol of Palestinian terrorism.

When did a fringed scarf become such a big concern? How many people are thinking about what their belt or earrings they’re wearing symbolize? Probably not many. Does the apparel we wear make who we are? Should apparel be judged in these terms and do we really want to go in that direction? What’s next — America ONLY wearing clothing or should we say ‘a uniform’ that the government deems ok like no-brand clothing chosen for students in middle in high school? Do you think that maybe the scarf was selected to place more attention on the iced coffee?

Well one thing’s for certain, everyone knows about Dunkin’ Donuts now and its iced coffee.
