The 2012 Block Party for Peace Promises to Deliver

Memphis, TN – In its 6th year, the 2012 Block Party for Peace Powered by Black Market Strategies is gearing up to be one of the best events ever!

The event has always focused on finding methods to improve quality of life for our citizens. The Block Party for Peace was created with a three-fold mission for impacting communities. They are:

1. Showcase the businesses in the community to increase consumer traffic and employment.

2. Improve quality of life through access to career, health and other social opportunities.

3. Provide a safe, family event that will foster community pride in the host community.

Headlining this year’s free Old School R&B concert is platinum recording artist Chico DeBarge of the famous DeBarge family. There are new initiatives added to the event such as “Everything Housing” and Everything Small Business”. Additionally, the Block Party for Peace has added new entertainment events such as this year’s “All White Socialite” and the Old School Skate Bounce that is sure to return the nostalgia of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s era of skating and fun!

“The Block Party for Peace is an important economic vehicle for our community,” says State Representative and Block Party for Peace founder Antonio Parkinson. “We hope that through its use, the citizens of Memphis can support area businesses, take advantage of the free career and health opportunities and to simply relax and have a good time,” he continued.

The Block Party for Peace Powered by Black Market Strategies is a family event with free admission. The event begins at 9 am Friday, May 25th – May 28th at Kmart located at 3201 Austin Peay Hwy. For more information call 901-379-9101 or visit us at www.BlockPartyForPeace.com.
