Tennessee College Campus Crime: Shoplifting Rises 700% From Just 2008 To 2009!


Officials are stating that there has been a rise in Tennessee campus crime in the last 5 years.

The number of reported incidents increased by 9 percent although violent crimes have decreased by 6 percent. There are a few reasons why this may be happening.

One of the reasons expressed was that many people are enrolling back into college to continue their study due to the current state of the economy.

Out of all the crimes that’s being committed, the highest is shoplifting, which jumped 700 percent in less than a year, reports The Tennessean.

Fraud came in second, which increased by 75 percent and drug related incidents, drug violations, increased almost 16 percent.
