A new bill is being proposed to do mandatory drug tests on people receiving welfare. What could this mean for the future of government assistance?
Right now in the Tennessee House of Representatives is a proposed bill that proposes mandatory drug testing for all people who the department of human services deem necessary.
The bills states that any person who tests positive for the use of illegal drugs will lose eligibility for benefits for one year. If the eligibility is lost it can be appealed.
Many of our states lawmen feel strongly in favor of the bill because it protects tax payers money and prevents it from being used on illegal drugs.
The bill is still being reviewed and isn’t set to become law or even considered to become a law until January 2012.
