The wife of former state senator John Ford, Tamara Mitchell-Ford, violated her probation following a DUI arrest in September where police claim that she veered into oncoming traffic with her toddler son in the backseat.
On last Thursday, Mitchell-Ford was sentenced to one year behind bars by a Collierville judge after admitting to the court that she does have an alcohol problem.
She further acknowledged that the judge had given her numerous chances to rectify her drinking problem. Her attorneys noted that Mitchell-Ford was not a violent person, however, the judge took into account all of Mitchell-Ford’s previous charges and pending cases and stood firmly by his sentencing.
At present, she is required to serve the entire sentence.
