Memphis police have arrested a suspect in the fight and multiple shooting allegedly involving Memphis rappers Yo Gotti and OG Boo Dirty which occurred in the parking lot during closed hours of Level II Night Club over last year’s Thanksgiving Holidays in Nov. 2010. As reported on MemphisRap.com’s Hip Hop Blog, more than 11 people, including rappers Yo Gotti and OG Boo Dirty were wanted for questioning in connection with the melee incident.
Well, while responding to another night club shooting call on one Wednesday night in Whitehaven, Memphis police apparently found one of the suspects they’ve been tracking down wanted in connection with the incident which allegedly involved rappers Yo Gotti and OG Boo Dirty.
The Commercial Appeal reports that Shelby County Sheriff’s Office detectives helped the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force arrest Brian Lackland, 20, and another man as they were getting ready to leave the area of the reported Whitehaven shooting call.
Lackland, who is charged with aggravated riot in the November incident, was a passenger, while Michael Eugene Darden, 26, was the driver.
The two, in a black Dodge Durango, were leaving the parking lot of JD USA at 1232 E. Shelby Drive near Elvis Presley, when police found a stolen handgun — a loaded .38-caliber Smith & Wesson, small plastic bags of Xanax, hydrocodone pills and marijuana in the sport utility vehicle.
Michael Eugene Darden, a convicted felon in a 2007 aggravated assault, confessed to police that all the items were his, and was charged with multiple charges including possession of controlled substances with intent to sell, being a convicted felon in possessing of a firearm, theft, and other charges.
Lackland was held on $2,000 bond for his aggravated riot charge in the November incident involving rappers Yo Gotti and OG Boo Dirty, while Darden’s bond was set at $30,000.
