Steroids Found in System of WWE Wrestler Chris Benoit

After waiting for the results of Pro wrestler Chris Benoit, 40, nicknamed “The Rabid Wolverine” and “The Canadian Crippler,” tests confirmed that he had steroids and other drugs in his system when he killed his wife Nancy and 7 year-old son Daniel on last month before hanging himself with the cable of a weight machine in the family’s home in Atlanta, investigators said earlier today.

Benoit’s body contained high levels of testosterone (10 times the normal level), which appeared to have been injected, as well as the anti-anxiety drug Xanax and the painkiller hydrocodone, according to a statement from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The GBI said Benoit tested negative for alcohol.

Investigators are unsure as to rather if the steroids were linked to the killings, but there is speculation the murder-suicide by a bulked-up professional wrestler might be a case of “roid rage” – a theory that steroid users can become uncontrollably violent reports state.

Benoit killed his wife and son, placed Bibles next to their bodies and then hung himself.

Police have labeled the deaths as a murder-suicide.

Investigators have also stated that they found anabolic steroids among the prescription drugs in Benoit’s house. Investigator will try to determine if the anabolic steroids played a role in the deaths.
