A new documentary film Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap is setting out to show that rap is about more than just beats, hooks, money and women.

Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap sets out to show the importance of lyricism in rap music.

Many of times, rap has been either about beef or money or women, or something else, but in this documentary, which is directed by hip hop icon Ice-T, it’s about rap and the craft and skills that it takes.

Ice-T travels from city to city, conversing with the likes of hip hop’s finest including Nas, Mos Def, Kanye West, Chuck D, KRS-One, Melle Mel, Afrika Bambaataa, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Run-DMC, Ice Cube and others.

The film is currently showing in Memphis in the following movie theaters:
