Snoop Gets Probation for Weapons Charge

West coast rap pioneer, Snoop Dogg received 160 hours of community service and 3 years probation after pleading guilty to a felonious weapon charge Thursday. Snoop Dogg’s attorney, Donald Etra explained that the charge could be reduced to a misdemeanor after 1 year if Snoop stays out of trouble. This may be hard for the 35 year old rap star to do seeing as how the weapon, in this case, wasn’t the customary sawed-off shotgun or 9 millimeter that many rappers boast of toting in their rap lyrics. This time it was Snoop Doggy Dogg’s collapsible baton he was storing in a computer bag.

Security arrested Snoop with the baton at John Wayne Airport in Orange County last September. This is Snoop’s second case in the past year. He was arrested at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank on Oct. 26 on suspicion of transporting marijuana. In the plea deal, Snoop Dogg was also ordered to make a $10,000 charitable donation, Etra said.

“He wants to get on with his life,” Etra said. “He will continue his music and his filming and performing.”
