Call it what you want, but Samuel Jackson is about to battle himself. In his latest movie he takes it to the next level on a high charging snake frenzy in “Snakes on a Plane.” The movie made its debut over the weekend and is number 2 according to box office results as of 08/20/2006 and has grossed $13,850,000. While “Snakes on a Plane” is getting rave reviews and media coverage, “Black Snake Moan” which Samuel Jackson also stars in will be a little darker without the effects of snakes. “Black Snake Moan” which is written and directed by Memphis’ own Craig Brewer will be the tale of a God-fearing bluesman (Jackson) who takes to a wild young woman (Christina Ricci) who, as a victim of childhood sexual abuse, looks everywhere for love, never quite finding it. The movie will feature cast members Justin Timberlake (Ronnie), John Cothran Jr. (R.L.) David Banner (Terrone), Ruby Wilson (Mayella) and a host of others. The movie is expected to hit box offices sometime in Feburary 2007.
