Shots Were fired at Memphis Zoo

Tuesday evening, shots were fired from the main gate of Overton Park, inside the Memphis Zoo’s parking lot.

Tuesday’s free zoo event brought in a record breaking attendance topping nearly 26,000 people. The shooting occurred when teens who were still in the area fired shots up in the air after leaving out of the zoo.

During the day though, the director of the zoo reported to officials that a couple of fights broke out. One was outside in the parking lot, and the other was inside the zoo.

Memphis Zoo’s president released a statement concerning the matter. Even though the shots were fired during zoo hours, police have made no arrests concerning the situation.
