Legendary hip-hop music promoter and celebrity socialite Russell Simmons has put himself in a pickle although he has apologized and banned the video of the now infamous Harriet Tubman sex tape.
Though the Harriet Tubman sex tape video garnered some positive reactions it seemed to attract mostly negative reactions internet-wide when it surfaced online.
Russell Simmons, who recently launched All Def Digital Channel on YouTube, was quite embarrassed after he had to pull down the controversial Harriet Tubman sex tape, which was meant to poke humor at slavery by showing a sex tape plot by the abolitionist.
In the sex tape video, Harriet Tubman is seemingly planning to blackmail a slave owner into letting her run her underground railroad by secretly recording a sex tape video with him recorded by a fellow slave hiding in the bedroom closet. A lot of people did not take kindly to humor of the video including the NAACP, church pastors including some local here in the Mid-South.
“There is no reason or justification for such a video,” says new Sardis Baptist Church Pastor LaSimba Gray to Local Memphis.
The pastor thought that making fun of Harriet Tubman in a sex tape desecrates her legacy and is “unacceptable.”
Others thought the video was “offensive” including the leader of the Memphis NAACP.
Meanwhile, Russell Simmons has banned the video from his sites and channel though it still circulates online.
