At a robbery at the Wolfchase Galleria Mall in Memphis near the Germantown and Cordova area, five men armed with guns and sledgehammers robbed Reeds Jewelers jewelry store.
Smashing the glasses with their sledgehammers, which many thought were the sound of gunfire, the jewelry heist thieves made off with reportedly over a half million dollars worth of jewels.
The robbery incident occurred around 7:30PM Saturday, according to Memphis Police, who received initial reports of gunshots being fired at the Wolfchase Galleria.
The police would later find out that there weren’t gunshots at all, but instead the sound of smashing glass from the jewelry heist that caused chaos.
The robbers seemed to have known exactly what they wanted and it was Rolex watches valued at over $10,000 a piece bringing the robbers’ heist to up to more than $700,000 dollars in jewelry stolen.
So far no arrests have been made.
