Raleigh-Frayser Block Party for Peace in Northaven

Due to excessive amount of tragic events and violent crimes that have taken place this year in the city of Memphis, a series of events have been organizing aimed at promoting peace and positive empowerment of the city’s youth and young parents through education, the providing of resources and opportunity.

Some events were:
The Raleigh-Frayser Block Party for Peace (Memorial Day Weekend ’06)
The Memphis Movement (National Civil Rights Museum) (June ’06)
Charity Fund Raiser for the Martez Henderson Family

The events have been extremely successful in planting a positive seed in the communities that need them most and thanks goes to media coverage such as Commercial Appeal, Fox 13 News, Wreg News Channel 3, WMC News Channel 5, ABC 24, UPN 30 & Tri-State Defender. The events promote peace, empowerment, and community involvement through music, motivational speech, and other activities. These events are also accompanied with social programs that many of the residents of the affected communities need but do not have complete access to. So if the communities are not aware of or do not have access to the programs that the tax payers fund, than these events will bring the programs to the people. Another event is planning to do just that and it is the Raleigh-Frayser Block Party for Peace in Northaven.

When: July 29, 2006
Where: 4991 Breckenwood Road (Penny Pantry store in Northaven community)
Time: 4-8 PM
