PS3, Does It Live Up To The Hype?

Since its launch on Friday, Sony’s PlayStation 3 has definitely been receiving hype, but it’s not all positive.

Since its launch on Friday, Sony’s PlayStation 3 has definitely been receiving hype, but it’s not all positive. And according to Seth Schiesel of The New York Times, Sony has failed to deliver on a promise made, insisting that the PS3 would jump all competition to bring forth an “unsurpassed” level of fun.

Yet the hype, alone, had consumers racing with enthusiasm to be the first owner of the new video game system. According to records for E-bay, PS3s were selling anywhere from $2,000 to $3,000, with a whopping instance of $9,000. But the records soon changed, and E-bay viewed an average price of $1,100, now.

PS3Although Schiesel stated that PS3 would be named the world’s most powerful game console, he further stated that [it] falls short, in the overall entertainment experience.

With an account-denting price of $599 for the ultimate version, the new system is causing some disappointment for consumers. Along with the fact that Sony hadn’t activated the PS3’s online service until close to its launch date; which uncovered a clear sense of disappointment from some gamers, the system does not come with cables enabling connection to high-definition televisions. Schiesel also comments on the inconveniences of the “wireless” controllers, and not being able to play personal, digital music while playing games…and these are just to name a few.

On a high point, Schiesel did add that some compatiable games possess that experience, excitement, and addictive challenges that most gamers look for.

But it’s also stated that Sony is assuring users on future software to fix some of the deficiencies. Aside of that, as Schiesel puts it, “If people want to use a computer, they’ll use a computer. Overall, Sony seems to have put a lot of effort into cramming as much silicon horsepower under the hood as possible, but have forgotten that all the transistors in the world can’t make someone smile.”

For those of you who are still wanting to obtain the PS3, take your time! The longer you wait, perhaps the less errors and glitches the PS3 will have, and will probably be less expensive!!!
