Music Producer Al Kapone Brings On Son Young AJ; Now Buckin and Jookin

Known for his craft at music production and songs such as “Whoop That Trick” and “U And Dat,” Al Kapone brings on his son “Young AJ” to teach him the trade.

Known for his craft at music production and songs such as “Whoop That Trick” and “U And Dat,” Al Kapone brings on his son “Young AJ” to teach him the trade. Now with the release of their new single “Buckin and Jookin” featuring Sir Vince, they’re getting everyone involved including dancers who’ve mastered the phenomenon.

“They buckin, they buckin, they buckin….what they doing? They jookin, they jookin, they jookin…. where they from?” The song “Buckin and Jookin” which is based off the street dance derived from the original dance Gangsta Walking from the 80’s has been takin to a next level with an edge by the younger generation. The dance which is a combination of choppin, glidin, spins, Gangsta Walking and other unique dances that the dancers create has brought on a transformation of it’s own.

Young Jai, of Jai Productions, the producer of the DVD “Memphis Jookin Vol. 1” which highlights dancers and dance battles throughout the city states, “It’s the history and evolution of the Memphis Hip-Hop dance Gangsta Walking. It’s over 20 years in the making”

Dance groups such as G-Force which is known as one of the popular dance groups in the city is aiming at teaching everyone the dance. “That’s right, we teaching Jookin in the Memphis area,” states Co-Founder Daniel. Young Jai as well as G-Force are much like producer Al Kapone, they want to let the world know about Buckin and Jookin.
