MTV Rock The Vote coming to the University of Memphis

The University of Memphis will host a Rock the Vote (RTV) event on Friday, September 17, 2004. The MTV/RTV is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to register young voters –especially college students– and encourage their participation in the political process.

Throughout this day-long event, RTV/MTV and the University of Memphis will hold voter registrations and a Political Colloquium, co-sponsored by the Mayor of Shelby County, A.C. Wharton. In this forum, elected officials and community leaders will address the public about the importance of registering to vote and participating in this upcoming presidential election. The event producers estimate an attendance of 5,000 to 25,000 people.

The Bus Tour is a new project that RTV launched earlier this summer, in which several bands travel across the country performing at different college campuses.
