Mom Steals Memphis Police Car, Leaves 12 Yr-Old Daughter Running

47 yr. old Cynthia Stewart has been charged in an incident involving her 12 yr. old daughter

Investigators say that the situation spiraled out of control Thursday after Cynthia took her daughter while she was in DHS custody.

A city watch was issued for the pair and at about one o’clock Sunday, tips told authorities that the two were in the midtown area near Jackson and Trezevant.

When the authorities located them, the young girl took off running and the mother jumped in the patrol car and left the scene.

The mother later abandoned the vehicle in the 3200 block of Macon Rd.

Stewart has been charged with theft of property over $10,000 and auto theft.
