MemphisRap.com Turns 20, Celebrating 20 Years of Memphis Rap Website

It’s hard to believe that MemphisRap.com is celebrating 20 years online.

MemphisRap.com came into existence over twenty-one years ago. The website first started as a beta back in 2000 and later fully launched on April 1, 2001. The website followed behind the late founder’s, website projects The Room (The Rap Out Of Memphis) and G.C. Communities in the mid 1990’s.

The founder of MemphisRap.com, Hosea ‘MTown’ Mays, Jr., who anticipated celebrating 20 years of MemphisRap.com this year, unfortunately passed on January 11, 2021.

Not to go in depth, Mays, a former rap artist, producer and futurist, created MemphisRap.com initially out of necessity after noticing the lack of online coverage and recognition of Memphis rap artists and others.

As you might expect, the website flourished over the next two decades becoming a hub for Memphis rap news, music, interviews, shopping and more.

Today we want to thank the millions of people who visited and contributed to MemphisRap.com throughout the years as we celebrate 20 years of the website.

R.I.P. Hosea ‘MTown’ Mays, Jr.
