A Memphis, TN woman tried to kill her husband by pulling the trigger not once, but twice and failed both times. Janell Morton, 49, has been charged with Attempted First Degree Murder and Aggravated Kidnapping after locating her estranged husband who had recently separated from her.
According to authorities, Morton’s husband stated that he didn’t know how she had tracked him down, but she found him at the Red Roof motel on Shady Oaks on Saturday morning.
Morton reportedly made her way through her husband’s hotel room by gunpoint and force. Upon entrance Morton allegedly made her husband get on his knees as she pointed the gun to his head.
According to the victim, Morton who held him up in his room for approximately an hour even gave his family a scare by calling them on the phone and telling them to say goodbye because she was getting ready to kill him by putting a bullet in his head.
Luckily, Morton wasn’t successful because the gun jammed twice when she attempted to kill him.
Morton’s quick thinking husband decided to grab the gun, knock her down and make a run for it. The victim reportedly called the police following the incident as he drove off with his truck, personal belongings and a hunting rifle.
Janell Morton, who is being held on a bond of $500,000, is due in court on December 12, 2012.
