Memphis Twins Among 10 Who Filed $250 Mil American Idol Lawsuit For Discrimination

A set of Memphis twins are claiming that American Idol not only discriminated against them, but also ruined their chances of a music career.

Twin brothers Terrell and Derrell Brittenum say American Idol deceives viewers that the show is about talent but instead it is scripted.

The twins also claim to have been misled themselves into believing that they would get the fame of going to Hollywood; but they say the show only publicized brother Terrell’s previous run-in with the law even after they say they had disclosed that information to the producers prior to the show.

The Brittenum brothers say American Idol waited until they made it into the top 24, then made a big deal about Terrell’s prior arrest and would not allow them to continue. The brothers claim they were ‘casted for the role of criminals’ and not for their talent and it was all to boost ratings.

Furthermore, the twins say they cannot successfully pursue their career aspirations as the contract the contestants signed with American Idol prevents them from appearing on other nationally televised shows and the contract is indefinitely, reports WREG.

The twins alleged the show made them out to be liars and ruined their career while at the same time discriminated against them while allowing other ‘white’ counterparts with criminal pasts to continue on in the televised talent show.

The Brittenum twins are among 10 who have filed a $250 million dollar lawsuit against American Idol.

Meanwhile, representatives for American Idol deny the allegations and claim they reserve the right to disclose information on their contestants.
