Memphis Tigers who’s 33-1, won Saturday with a 77-51 victory over Tulsa in the Conference USA championship game making them the number one seed in the South Regional of the NCAA tournament. Anthony Anderson game-high was 19 points, which included four out of five three-pointers, Chris Douglas-Roberts added 16 points to the score and Jeff Robinson had 11 off the bench.

Saturday’s victory moved them into fifth place for most wins in a three-year period with 99. Only Kentucky, with 104 between 1994 and 1996 and 102 between 1947-1949, Montana State (102) and Duke (101) have won more in a three-year span.

Next, the University of Memphis Tigers will be taking on Texas-Arlington (21-11) and will be playing their first two games in Little Rock. In the second set the Tigers will be going up against Mississippi State.

In the meantime, many are debating as to rather the Memphis Tigers can succeed and take the title stating that the Memphis Tigers cannot make a free throw to save their lives and that Chris Douglas-Roberts shoots 45% from three-point-range and once the tournament gets to rolling the Tigers will be tested by a clever and smart coach who will expose the one seed.

If the Tigers holds up and make it through the Sweet 16, they will be playing in Houston and will face a challenge with either Pitt or Michigan State and then Texas.

Memphis will be going into the NCAA tournament as only the 28th team with at least 30 wins.

The Final Four games will be held in San Antonio.
