Memphis Student Slaps Teacher For Trying To Take Away Her Cellphone

More than two weeks ago, a 15 year-old girl slapped her teacher at Raleigh-Egypt High School in Memphis for taking away her phone.

More than two weeks ago, a 15 year-old girl slapped her teacher at Raleigh-Egypt High School in Memphis for taking away her phone. The teen student was reportedly talking on her cellphone in class when the teacher told her to stop using it. The incident escalated when the teacher attempted to take the phone away from the teenager who previously refused to put it away. This is when the girl slapped the teacher who was taken to the hospital.

The 15 year-old girl was arrested on simple assault and was taken to Juvenile Court, Detective Monique Martin told Eyewitness News.

According to Eyewitness News, Raleigh-Egypt has been having a heap of disciplinary problems which includes students skipping and trespassing on neighbors property. The news station even witnessed more than a dozen students skipping class which a MCS spokesman stated that some of the students may have been leaving for authorized activities off campus.

Memphis City Schools have a cellphone policy which prohibits the use of cellphones. Cellphones are listed under the levels of offenses which is an MCS arranged Student Code of Conduct based on the seriousness of the offense ranging from Level 1 – Level 5 (the most serious). Cellphones under Level 1 are to be returned to the student’s parent/guardian within 72 hours after a conference with a teacher or administrator.
