Memphis Redbirds’ Employee Busted Picking Up 6 Pounds of Marijuana at Offices of Redbirds’ Stadium

A Memphis couple has been charged with felony drug charges after being busted with six pounds of marijuana (weed) which was delivered to the offices of the Redbirds Stadium in Memphis, TN.

A Memphis couple has been charged with felony drug charges after being busted with six pounds of marijuana aka ‘weed’ which was delivered, believe it or not, to the offices of Redbirds Stadium at Toyota Plaza in Downtown Memphis, TN on April 16, 2008.

Leslie Walton-Wilkes, who works at Redbirds Stadium, was arrested after attempting to pick up the package and her husband, Sean, was arrested after officers went to Wilkes’ home.

Investigators say officers found about $65,000 in cash inside the home and detectives took a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck, a 12-gauge shotgun, and a handgun into police custody.

She is charged with marijuana possession and he is charged with marijuana and gun possession.

Since, Memphis Redbirds officials have released the following official statement:

“On Wednesday, April 16th, a former part-time employee of the Memphis Redbirds was taken into custody by the Memphis Police Department from her office at 175 Toyota Plaza surrounding a narcotics investigation.

These events did not occur at AutoZone Park, nor during a game.

The Redbirds will continue to cooperate with local authorities to ensure that the investigation into the charges reaches an expedient conclusion.

These accusations are strongly against the values of the Memphis Redbirds family, and the alleged actions of this individual are in a direct violation of the standards of personal behavior our team holds to be essential.”
