Memphis Rap at the 17th annual Premier Player Awards in Memphis

Winners at the 17th annual Premier Player Awards were announced past Thursday and among the group of Memphis music talent from rock to soul to rap included the infamous Three 6 Mafia who took home the trophy of Rap Group of the Year.

Memphis own, Gangsta Blac, was also nominated as Rapper of the Year.

Held at the Orpheum Theater instead of previous years at The Pyramid, this local music event is produced by the local chapter National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS). The Premier Players Awards recognizes & honors the achievements of local Memphis performers. Winners are voted on by a Memphis chapter of more than 800 members…

Congratulations to both of Three Six Mafia & Gangsta Blac for representing the urban rap community in such a sheltered Industry of Blues and Soul music as Memphis has been in the past.
