Download music with your Memphis Public Library card for free. The Memphis Public Library and Information Center will now be offering free music and video downloads in conjunction with Freegal Music Service.
Library users will have a weekly download limit, according to Freegal and will have access to more than 3 million songs, including Sony Music’s catalog of hip-hop artists, pop artists and others.
The great thing about Freegal is that songs will be available in mp3 format and can be downloaded with a valid Library card number and pin which can be accessed after creating your account through the Library’s website.
There are pros and cons to the new service which have a limit on how many downloads are available through Freegal.
According to the Memphis Public Library, music downloads are set at three per week. The additional downside to Freegal is that if you wish to download videos, it will take two of your download allowances.
