Memphis police officer robbed and carjacked

Early Friday morning around 5AM a Memphis police officer was, believe this, carjacked by two men who supposedly earlier invaded the home of two elderly people and robbed them just minutes before running into the Police officer. The Memphis police officer recovered from minor injuries caused when the alleged suspects jumped him Friday morning and took his gun and squad car.

The incident all went down at Shelby Drive and Tulane in the Whitehaven area of Memphis, TN. The officer followed the two suspects into a BP gas station in Whitehaven and after calling for backup, attempted to take one of the men into custody when the other man jumped him, grabbed his gun, fired two shots at the officer and took off in his squad car. The car was later found in Memphis at Kerr and Greenwood. Officers are still searching for the suspects.
