Memphis Minister Charged With Knowingly Exposing HIV To Married Woman

Memphis Minster charged with knowingly given HIV to woman
A Memphis minister is accused of spreading more than the ‘Word of God,’ he is accused of spreading HIV. Minister Rodney Carr has been charged with the offense of Criminal Exposure to HIV.

A woman, who had confided in him and had begun a romantic relationship with Rodney Carr, reported him in 2012, which led to him being arrested after finding out he had infected her with HIV following a doctor visit.

According to the woman, the ordained minister formerly of Fellowship of Believers in Christ Church knowingly infected her and did not tell her he was HIV positive.

Rodney Carr tested HIV positive in 2005 and knew that he would have to disclose that information due to the HIV specific criminal exposure laws.

Now the anonymous woman, who says the only two people she had slept with was her husband (who is not HIV positive) and Rodney Carr, is hoping that other women will come forward who may have slept with Rodney Carr also.

This is not the first time Carr has been in trouble with the law.  In 2011, Carr was charged with two counts of carrying a concealed weapon on school property at the University of Memphis. This incident occurred after an alleged argument over a woman with another man at the student family housing on campus.

Rodney Carr allegedly got himself out of being arrested after complaining of chest pains and was taken to the hospital instead.

Carr faces prison time and a class C felony on his charge of Criminal Exposure to HIV.
