Memphis’ Drumma Boy, Justin Timberlake Take Home Awards at 25th ASCAP Pop Music Awards


Memphis own Drumma Boy took home an award at the 25th ASCAP Pop Music Awards for his production of Most Performed Song ‘Shawty’ by rapper Plies; while Justin Timberlake took home 5 top awards for his songwriting of ‘My Love’ and ‘Until the End of Time’.

Memphis Producer Christopher “Drumma Boy” Gholson of the Drum Squad was awarded for his production of song “Shawty” by Florida rap artist Plies at the 25th Annual ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) Pop Music Awards in Los Angeles, CA on April 9, 2008. The producer was one of many awarded around the world for their achivements.

“I [Christopher “Drumma Boy” Gholson/Young Drumma] was awarded for “Shawty” which was among the most performed songs of 2007. I want to thank Aaron Bay-Schuck, Ferrell Miles, Maurice White, Verdine White, Eddie Del Barrio, Najm Faheem, Algernod Washington and all parties involved with making this record possible. It was truly an honor to be awarded @ the Kodak Theatre in the presence of Quincy Jones, Lionel Richie, Steve Miller, Justin Timberlake, and many more,” Drumma Boy issued in a statement to MemphisRap.com.

Drumma Boy went on to state how great of an importance it is to be apart of the ASCAP Pop Awards 25th Anniversay, and how he’s looking forward to contributing to the legacy.

In addition to Drumma Boy being awarded, Memphis’ own Pop/R&B star Justin Timberlake won top awards for writing the songs “My Love” and “Until the End of Time,” featuring a remix with Beyonc
