Mayor A C. Wharton, Jr. Launches ‘Bank on Memphis’ Financial Literacy Campaign


A C. Wharton, Jr., Mayor of Memphis, has begun a financial literacy program called “Bank on Memphis.”

The basic goal of Bank on Memphis is to bring countless Memphians that live on a paycheck-to-paycheck basis that do not use a bank and help them out.

Mayor Wharton has asked bankers, nonprofit officials, and credit union leaders to create products that pertains more so to the people in Memphis that do not use a bank.

According to the Memphis Daily News, this program is a derivative of “Bank On” programs in San Francisco, Boston, New York City, and elsewhere.
