Ludacris’ Father Dies, Rapper Asks for Privacy After Death

Wayne Brian Bridges, 52, the father of Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, died early Feb. 25 in Atlanta, GA. Ludacris’ father died approximately two weeks after Ludacris won two Grammy’s on February 11th for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song “Money Maker” for his album “Release Therapy.”

Wayne Brian Bridges, 52, the father of Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, died early Feb. 25 in Atlanta, GA. Ludacris’ father died approximately two weeks after Ludacris won two Grammy’s on February 11th for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song “Money Maker” for his album “Release Therapy.”

Grammy night Ludacris made his speech which included a thanks and dedication for his father who is stated to have been watching the show during the airing of the 49th Annual Grammy Awards from his hospital bed.

“This goes out to my father, who’s in critical condition right now. I appreciate your prayers. “Mr. Wayne Bridges, I love you to death,” Ludacris stated.

His father is noted for introducing him to Hip-Hop at the age of five and since then the genre has made a major impact on his life. Wayne Bridges participated and made appearances for Ludacris’ non-profit organization “The Ludacris Foundation” and also appeared in his video “Grew Up A Screw Up.”

Ludacris’ publicist Barry Florence states that the family has chosen not to publicly announce the cause of death and was planning a private funeral in Atlanta according to reports.
