This compilation is a natural progression for Three 6 Mafia who continue with their national development. Their last album, When The Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1 sold over 150,000 copies its first week and was the group’s first platinum album.
Loud Records will be releasing HYPNOTIZE MINDS PRESENTS THE DIRTY DIRTY VOLUME 1 January 15, 2002, a compilation of some of the South’s hottest records, Executive Produced by Three 6 Mafia’s DJ Paul and Juicy J.
The project emerged as a result of Loud A&R’s traveling the country and discovering great music happening locally. DJ Paul & Juicy JLoud thought that if they put all of these groups on one great compilation and teamed up with DJ Paul and Juicy J everyone would win; the artists, the label, and most importantly the consumer. Paul and Juicy wanted to get involved when they heard the idea and the music. As great creative entrepreneurs they recognized the quality of the music in the South and wanted to support fellow Southern artists.
With this release, Loud Records will continue to build on the success they have had developing Three 6 Mafia, Project Pat and the Hypnotize Camp. The compilation includes groups that Three 6 Mafia are developing (Frayser Boy and T Rock) as well as other Southern acts that combined have sold thousands of records in the southern region.
Just a few of the artists featured on HYPNOTIZE MINDS PRESENTS THE DIRTY, DIRTY VOLUME 1 include: GRANDADDY SOUF who hails from Orlando. Not only has he recorded an album on his label Parr Mo Entertainment and received local airplay, he has also toured extensively with Slip ‘N Slide recording artist Iconz and has opened up for Ja Rule on several occasions. Atlanta-based rap group JATIS (which means ‘family’ in Arabic) who was recently featured in the “ATL: Crunk” special in Murder Dog Magazine. The group says that their music is “More of a mix; you can take elements from Jamaican music, Gospel and Rap; put it in a melting pot and you have Jatis. Revolutionary music.” And Miami-born YUNG-N, formerly known as Twig, who was featured on a single and video for “Whoa! Lil’ Mama” by X-CON (another artist on the compilation) that was released on Elektra Records in the summer of 2000…
HYPNOTIZE MINDS PRESENTS?THE DIRTY, DIRTY VOLUME 1 showcases fourteen new artists, each with an individual song. The first two singles, Yung-N’s “Round -N- Round” and Grandaddy Souf’s “Savage Journey (F*** The Law)” will be released at radio simultaneously to capitalize on receiving the greatest amount of visibility possible.
Rich Isaacson, President of Loud Records, feels that the compilation is a “chance for Loud to get into business with some very talented entrepreneurs and exceptional artists. We’ve always done business this way; these acts know what’s hot in their region and we trust and believe in them enough to give them a hand.”
This compilation is a natural progression for Three 6 Mafia who continue with their national development. Their last album, When The Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1 sold over 150,000 copies its first week and was the group’s first platinum album. Three 6 is definitely staying busy as they are about to release their first soundtrack and film, Choices (Watch Trailer Video Clip) on this upcoming October 30 and November 6 respectively.
