A man in Los Angeles, California was killed by police in a shooting that allegedly took place while he was surrendering lying down on the ground.
According to KTLA, family members say Ezell Ford was fatally shot by LAPD officers in the Florence neighborhood South Los Angeles even though he was complying with the officers.
Ford was shot three times and then transported to a nearby hospital.
At the hospital, the 25 year-old, who is believed to have been mentally ill, reportedly underwent surgery but was pronounced dead after medical staff could not revive him due to his injuries.
Reportedly, the shooting is set to be reviewed by the Board of Police Commissioners and by the Officer of The Inspector General.
This shooting death of Ezell Ford comes at a time when the fatal shooting of 18 year-old Michael Brown, by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, has sparked protests nationwide.
