Lawyers for Lil Wayne have filed a motion in Yuma County Superior Court asking for a reduction of the rapper’s a charge of possession of drugs in his Arizona drug charge.
The rapper’s tour bus was allegedly pulled over after it went through a US Border Patrol checkpoint which lead to the authorities finding narcotics.
Well now, lawyers for Lil Wayne have filed a motion in Yuma County Superior Court asking for a reduction of the rapper’s charge of possession of drugs for sale.
In Arizona, their law is that possession of nine grams or more of cocaine means intent to sell and according to Lil Wayne’s lawyer, James Tilson, the original complaint given to the grand jury stated that Wayne was in possession of about 29 grams of cocaine; but, Tilson argues that Lil Wayne was only in possession of less than eight grams of cocaine without packaging according to lab reports.
A hearing is set for May 13 about the motion to reduce the charge.
A reduction of charges could be the difference between jail time and probation for Lil Wayne, however, there may still be a question of the .40-caliber pistol registered to Wayne which was also found on the rapper’s tour bus.
