One hour prior to Lil Wayne being arrested, Ja Rule (Jeff Atkins) and an acquaintance was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a 40-caliber pistol after speeding on West End Avenue in New York.
Officers allegedly spotted Lil Wayne, 24, and an acquaintance smoking marijuana by a tour bus near 61st Street and Columbus Avenue at about 11:30 p.m.. After finding a .40-caliber pistol the Lil Wayne and the acquaintance was taken into custody. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and marijuana.
During the show, sources state that Lil Wayne made comments from the stage that he was being harassed by the police before his performance, and threatened that he wouldn’t perform in New York again.
