Yum Brands, the parent company that owns KFC, has secretly launched a concept chicken restaurant Super Chix, which may be taking aim at Chick-fil-A.
Super Chix Restaurant launched in Arlington, Texas with a limited menu of chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, salads and more offerings, which some experts say resemble KFC’s rival Chick-fil-A.
Chick-fil-A topped KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) as the biggest chicken chain in the United States in 2012, which was the same year that Chick-fil-A’s president Dan Cathy made open anti-gay comments during a time that same-sex marriage was a huge national topic.
Now, after sales rankings were released in 2013, for the second year in a row Chick-fil-A again beat out KFC.
If Chick-fil-A has indeed become the new “King of Chicken,” it would not be a surprise that KFC would target the food chain.
Super Chix has the slogan “The Last True Chicken Sandwich” which definitely seems to poke at Chick-fil-A’s “We Didn’t Invent The Chicken, Just The Chicken Sandwich.”
