Producer JP On Tha Track talks about winning K97 FM’s Next Big Thing 3: Producer edition, his future work producing for Yo Gotti’s new album, and his future plans in an exclusive video interview with MemphisRap.com’s DeAnna Jo.
JP On Tha Track, who recently won Memphis-based Clear Channel radio station K97 FM’s “Next Big Thing 3: Producer” edition, is now gearing up for a number of projects which includes working with rapper and hip hop artist Yo Gotti. According to JP On Tha Track born Jonathan Pritchard, 24, winning the contest was a great thing and it gave him a sense of accomplishment and a chance to start fresh after producing for the past 12 years. His win: a chance to work with Yo Gotti on his new album and an MPC.
When questioned about who he’s working with or who he has worked with in the past, JP On Tha Track stated that he will be working with Iraqi war veteran and rapper Teflon Don, who is an SODMG affiliate, as well as MemphisRap.com chart topping artist and his label-mate E-forrint, amongst others.
The multi-talented, self-taught musician and artist reveals a short list of his role models in his interview, such as Drumma Boy due to abilities of playing different instruments, DJ Paul (of Three 6 Mafia), Jazze Pha, Pharrell Williams, Dr Dre, J Cole and Playa Fly.
In preparing himself to work with Yo Gotti, JP On Tha Track says that he has been constantly working on song tracks.
“Ever since I won K97 contest, I’ve just been in the studio day and night making tracks — just making beats, making beats and coming up with hooks…. just been waiting on him to give me a call,” stated JP in regards to his future work with Gotti.
