Judge Offers Busta Rhymes New Plea Deal For Assault Charges

Busta Rhymes “Trevor Smith”, 34 , may be able to avoid doing jail time on assault charges only if he considers a plea deal offered by Manhattan Judge Tanya Kennedy.

Busta Rhymes “Trevor Smith”, 34 , may be able to avoid doing jail time on assault charges only if he considers a plea deal offered by Manhattan Judge Tanya Kennedy. The plea deal will keep him out of jail for two assaults if he pleads guilty to misdemeanor assault (third-degree assault).

The rapper will be given five days of community service, two weeks of youth lectures and six months of anger management classes, and three years of probation. After six months the charges would be dismissed, but if the rapper violates his proboation, he could face one year in jail.

Six months ago the rapper rejected New York prosecutor Assistant District Attorney Harrison Schweiloch offer for six months of jail for the two assault charges.

Busta Rhymes is accused of attacking Edward Hatchett on December 26th 2006 during an argument over unpaid wages at his Manhattan office. For the second assault case Busta Rhymes is charged with assaulting a fan, for allegedly spitting on his car after an Aug. 12 performance.

The rapper remains free on a $3,500 bail.
