The hip hop community is mourning the death of Big Bank Hank, rapper from the pioneering hip hop group Sugarhill Gang, who passed away on Tuesday.
Big Bank Hank, born Henry Jackson, died Tuesday morning in New York City after battling cancer.
Sugarhill Gang was launched into fame with the hip hop song “Rappers Delight” back in 1979.
“Rappers Delight” became the first rap music single to hit the top 40 music charts.
After his passing on November 11, 2014, the 57 year-old Big Bank Hank received multiple condolences over Twitter including by Memphis rapper and producer Juicy J.
