Memphis rapper Project Pat, born Patrick Houston, is going viral after a photo surfaced showing him preaching across various social media platforms. What many may not know is that Project Pat has been actively spreading the message of God for several years.
While many fans are familiar with Project Pat’s gritty lyrics and impactful presence in Southern hip-hop, few may know about his recent turn toward faith. The rapper, who rose to fame in the 1990s and early 2000s as a solo artist and former member of the group The Kaze (also known as Killa Klan Kaze), has been sharing a different message as of late—a message about God’s power to transform lives.
Last year, Project Pat was featured on Fox 13 Memphis for bringing his testimony to the Memphis prison system at 201 Poplar with his non-profit ministry. The rapper shared that in 2020, he felt called to serve in a new way and began praying for guidance on how to use his influence more positively.
Project Pat’s commitment to ministry runs deep in his family roots—his father is a minister as well, and faith has always been a part of the Houston household.
As the brother of rapper and producer Juicy J of the Grammy-winning group Three 6 Mafia, Project Pat’s journey to redemption has been an inspiring narrative of transformation. Known for hits like “Chickenhead” and “Don’t Save Her,” his career spans decades. Throughout his career, Project Pat often rapped about his struggles and hardships, making his shift toward faith even more compelling for fans who have followed his story over the years.
“If God can change me, He can change you,” stated Project Pat when he spoke with Fox 13 last year, reflecting on how he had previously used his influence for the wrong reasons. Now, he’s using his voice to inspire others to seek a better path with the word of God.
