Memphis female rapper Jucee Froot, born Terrica Alexander, was released from the DeSoto County Jail in Mississippi on Thursday, September 26. The 30-year-old artist had been in custody since August 27, 2024, on charges of possession of Psilocin and contempt of court.
The rapper’s release was shared on social media, where a video captured her walking out of the facility.
“I’M BACK‼️ OUT THE CELL AND ON THE WAY TO THE STUDIO‼️‼️ HOPE Y’ALL READY!!!” she announced, using hashtags like #JUCEEFREE and #LOYAL100 to mark her return.
Jucee Froot wasted no time getting back to work, sharing another clip showing her in the studio.
The Loyal 100 Entertainment/Art@War/Atlantic Records signee’s legal troubles began in May when she was indicted on a felony drug charge stemming from an August 2022 incident. Authorities found Psilocybin, commonly known as magic mushrooms, in a vehicle where Jucee Froot was a passenger. Psilocybin, known for its hallucinogenic effects, is classified as a Schedule I controlled substance, meaning it is illegal and considered to have a high potential for abuse.
While some U.S. states and cities have moved to decriminalize or regulate psilocybin for medical use, it remains illegal in most parts of the country, including Mississippi. Oregon and Colorado are currently the only states where the substance is legally permitted for medical/therapeutic use.
Jucee Froot is scheduled to appear in court again on October 17, 2024, where she will face further proceedings related to her charges. Despite her recent legal issues, the rapper is already back to making music and showing her dedication to her craft.
