Action thriller movie ‘Hellboy II: The Golden Army’ grossed an estimated $35.5 million at the box office over the weekend knocking ‘Hancock’ starring Will Smith to number 2.
Other movies to follow included “Journey to the Center of the Earth” starring actor Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutcherson and actress Anita Briem which pulled in a little over $20 million during its debut. The animation movie Wall-E which is in it’s third week and stars with the voice overs of Benjamin Burtt, Jeff Garlin, Elissa Knight, Fred Willard and John Ratzenberger brought in $18 million bringing its total to $162 million. “Wanted” starring James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman, Angelina Jolie, Common and Kristen Hager brought in $11 million bringing its three week total to $112 million. “Get Smart” which stars Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway, Dwayne Johnson, Alan Arkin and Terrence Stamp brought in $7 million with the 4 week total reaching $111 million. Eddie Murphy’s latest flick “Meet Dave” also starring Gabrielle Union, Ed Helms, Elizabeth Banks and Judah Friedlander hit number 5 on the movie charts pulled in only a little over $5 million during its weekend debut.
Not far behind on the weekend gross, at number 8 “Kung Fu Panda,” pulled in $4.3 million with a total $202 million over 6 weeks, at number 9 “Kit Kittredge: An American Girl” with $2.3 million with a total $11 million over 4 weeks and coming in at number 10 “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” with $2.2 million with a total $310 million over 8 weeks.
