Former Shelby County Penal Farm Inmate Breaks Back Into Jail!

After nine former inmates were indicted Monday on drug smuggling charges, another former inmate allegedly broke through a fence in an effort to smuggle in cell phones and tobacco.

At about 6:00pm on February 7, a corrections officer observed a man leaving packages inside a fence at the maintenance building.

The getaway driver, later identified as Martha Arnold, was driving a blue Honda Civic rented from Budget Rental Car. According to Public Affairs officer, Steve Shuler, the alleged actually broke into one fence, then ran to the other gate and threw stuff over the top of the fence trying to to smuggle it inside.

The man was identified as Randy Williams, a former inmate from October of 2010.

Though the woman was identified and arrested, as of Wednesday, Randy Williams is still at large.
