A federal judge in Memphis sentenced former Senator John Ford to 66 months in prison and 24 months of supervised release. Ford was found guilty of bribery in April of this year and was one of eleven defendants charged in the now infamous Tennessee Waltz public corruption investigation.

The only other defendant to be given a 5-year sentence is former State Senator Roscoe Dixon (Memphis, TN). Convicted former State Representative Chris Newton (Cleveland, TN) was released after serving only nine months in federal prison.

A Ford family member has stated that Ford’s attorneys will appeal both the conviction and the sentence. Ford’s legal team has confirmed this.
