Firefox 3.0 Download Attempt For World Record Crashes Servers

Mozilla is aiming to break a record with the most downloads for their latest version of FireFox 3.0, however during their efforts some of its servers went down, but were back online shortly.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008 Mozilla aims to break a record with the most downloads for their latest version of FireFox 3.0 which is the only Web browser competing with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, while attempting to set a Guinness World Record, some of its servers went down, but were back online shortly.

The latest version of FireFox 3.0. offers a number of new and upgraded features which includes faster speeds, and enhanced security. In addition, Mozilla states that speeds will be twice as fast for a number of Web applications which includes Google Mail and Zoho Office. The updated Web browser will also be more memory efficient.

What’s New In FireFox
New features for FireFox include improved drop-down menu, new bookmarking features, optimized Open in Tabs, one-click site info, enhanced zoom capabilities to improve readability while maintaining the intended layout of the page, a new downloads manager, new security features, anti-virus integration, alerts to warn users if they’re visiting sites known for malware, spyware and viruses that’s listed on a blacklist, new web forgery protection page and the ability to honor parental controls in Windows Vista.

Currently, Guinness does not have anyone recorded for the most downloads in a single day.
