Previous to the announcement, everyone from the Missouri governor Jay Nixon to President Barack Obama to Michael Brown’s own father have urged that people not become violent and show tolerance and restraint following the verdict.

Reportedly, police claim that Michael Brown attacked Wilson in his police car and reached for his service weapon.

However, Brown was shot and killed at least 30 feet from the vehicle while multiple witnesses say he had his hands in the air.
