Ever since a California highway patrol officer was caught on video punching and beating a woman on the side of the road, the Internet has been questioning whether the officer was abiding by the law or not.

Caught on video on the side of a Los Angeles freeway, a California highway patrolman appears to be trying to stop a woman from walking on the side of the road.

Shockingly, at some point in the video, the officer pins the woman to the ground and repeatedly punches her in the face and head until another man — later identified as an off duty officer – arrived in the video footage as they handcuffed the woman.

Supposedly, the woman ignored the officer’s command to stop and was allegedly attempting to cross traffic which is why the officer claims to have had to restrain her on the busy interstate located west of Downtown Los Angeles.

Filmed by a passing driver name David Diaz, the incident may have not even made it to media if it wasn’t for his recording.

Now that the recording is out to the public and has gone viral online, civil rights leaders, civilians themselves as well as, of course, the family are shocked and outraged at the incident that took place.

Apparently, the woman is a great-grandmother whose name hasn’t been disclosed as of yet, but her family, according to Los Angeles attorney Caree Harper, wants the authorities held accountable for what the family says “he was doing to her.”

Harper’s view of the incident is the officer was beating her “like an animal.”

Currently the California Highway Patrol has vowed to carry out a full investigation of the incident.
